The objective of NIFT No Smoking Policy is to explain to all employees/trainees/visitors the attitude towards smoking and to protect all employees/ trainees/visitors from the ill-effect of active and passive smoking, in addition to protection from the significant hazard of fire and smoke.
NIFT has a responsibility to ensure that the working conditions for its entire staff do not have a detrimental effect on their health, safety and welfare. NIFT believes that smoking is harmful to the health of smokers as well as non-smokers alike and as such restrictions must be imposed on smokers. Additional there are obvious risks associated with smoking in areas where there is the potential of fire and explosion through the ignition of flammable liquids, gases and vapours. Smoking can also be a contributory factor in the cause and spread of fire to hazardous areas.
As a result of the above philosophy and objectives, smoking is expressly forbidden in all company premises, except in the designated smoking area.
IMPLEMENTATION OF POLICY
The cooperation of all staff/trainees/ visitors is required to ensure compliance with NIFT No Smoking Policy. It is the responsibility of branch Management to enforce the Policy within their branches.
